Easter Greetings from the Isle of Skye, Scotland!

Happy Easter to you all!  With the need to “stay at home” due to the Covid-19 pandemic none of us will be traveling to spend this holiday with family and friends.  However, we can always call our family and friends to wish them a Happy and Blessed Easter and catch up a bit.

As I am not presently traveling, I thought that once again, I would “recycle” a writing from my past travels.  It’s Easter, so greetings from the Isle of Skye, Scotland where we were for Easter 2017 seemed appropriate.

On the way from Inverness to the Isle of Skye John and I drove along part of the Scotland’s North Coast 500 which is wildly beautiful and reminiscent of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.  We took a detour to Eilean Donan Castle which is magnificent and set on a tiny island in water where Lochs Duich & Alsh seem to meet.  The road signs are in Gaelic/Celtic & English now that we’re in the Highlands.

Chocolate Easter Bunnies at Breakfast

This morning at breakfast in our B&B on Skye we found that the Easter Bunny left chocolate bunnies for us and for the first time I ate a duck egg and haggis for breakfast.  The haggis was for my friend Harry who pretty much dared me to eat some while in Scotland.  So, I did eat haggis and met his dare, never again though!

Our Guest House has chickens, sheep, ducks, 2 friendly dogs and wonderful hosts.  Our host Karen is a retired Police Officer from the UK, a delightful lady and like our dear friends Steve and Hayley, chock full of entertaining stories.  Karen told us that when she started out in Law Enforcement the men were given whistles to call for assistance and batons to use as weapons.  However, women Officers were not given a whistle but told to yell for assistance and were given a mini truncheon, so small it fit in her purse and would barely hurt a fly!

Readers, may the beauty of Easter and new beginnings bring us all comfort and joy.  Happy and Blessed Easter to you all!

  1. Another winner, Teresa! I love the photos and, as always, the details that bring your travels to vivid life. Happy Easter to you and John and Chris! (Bunnies, yes; haggis, not so much, here in Maryland!)

  2. Once again, you have furnished gorgeous pictures & accompanying entertaining narrative. May you & John have a blessed Easter.

    1. Carol – Many thanks for your lovely compliments on John’s photos and my writing. We’re happy that you enjoyed the blog post. We had a nice, but quiet, Easter. We hope that yours was a pleasant and blessed one. Teresa
